Maker’s Day – Something for Everyone

Come and join The Hoboken Public Library for a statewide Makers Day Celebration. Events going on all day from 11:00 – 3:30 and includes button making, 3D Virtual Reality Occulus, Visual Spacetime Curvature and Seismic Visual Display, Hands on Tech/Maker Stations for Kids and another one for Teens.
In addition in our Garden room we will have a day of Coding Classes:
These classes are first come first served and seating is limited. If you have a laptop, please bring it.
- Level 0: Kids Learn to Code – 11am to 12:15 – The first event is a children’s “Level 0: Kids Learn to Code” for target ages 7 and 8. The event that would include a 15 minute talk on technology and how exciting new technology can be followed by 50 minutes of coding a Star Wars game using code.org resources, and 10 minutes of Q&A.
- Everyone Should Code (Brief talk and Q&A) – 12:30pm to 1 – The second event is a half hour talk for ages 8 up to adults and focuses on sharing the importance of writing computer programs as a broad 21st century skill.
- Level 0: Learn to Code in Python – from 1:15pm to 2:30 – The third event is an hour and 15min long “Level 0: Learn to Code in Python” for anyone over 8 years old, especially beginner adults. The class is an introduction to Python and guides the student through their first program. No installation or previous experience is needed. Students are welcomed to stay and ask questions and to say hello until 3:15.
