Nostalgia Doll Making for the Holidays
December 6, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Local artist, Liz Ndoye has been creating objects that she refers to as dolls for the last 14 years. The dolls are made from all kinds of materials. These include fabrics that she has collected on her world travels to the plastic bags her New York Times are delivered in. In fact, Liz has created a culture and society for her dolls which includes their own language, government, spiritual life and aesthetic.
A brief introduction of dolls from different cultures and the roles of dolls in societies through history and around the world will begin the workshop. During the evening Liz will teach participants how to stitch and stuff a soft doll. Each doll maker will have a variety of materials to decorate their doll once it’s sewn together. The doll makers will be encouraged to name their dolls and give them personalities and back stories.
Come and create the perfect holiday gift. A discussion will also take place about dolls as toys and precious objects. No sign up necessary. First come, first served and open to all ages.
