The Pop-Up Library Is Coming to Your Child’s School!
We’re excited to share some great news, the Pop-Up Library is coming to your child’s school! This special event brings the joy of books directly to students, making reading more accessible, engaging, and fun.
What Is the Pop-Up Library?
The Pop-Up Library is a temporary, on-site library experience designed to bring the Hoboken Public Library into schools. Students will have the opportunity to browse a wide variety of age-appropriate books, discover new favorites, and celebrate the love of reading, all during the school day.
What Can Students Expect?
- A welcoming, mobile library-style setup right at school
- A curated selection of books for different ages and interests
- Time to explore, read, and get excited about books
When Is It Happening?
Here are the Upcoming Dates for the Pop-Up Library, sorted by school.
Brandt School:
- February 23, 24, 25 & 26
- May 26, 27, 28 & 29
Connors School:

Do students need a Library Card?
Books checked out at the Pop-Up Library are not connected to your student’s or family’s personal library card. Instead, all items are checked out using a classroom library card, making participation easy and stress-free for everyone.
Creating library cards on a class by class basis is possible and can be coordinated by emailing Ms. Val at valerie.coughlin@hobokenlibrary.org
Returning Books Is Easy
Books borrowed from the Pop-Up Library can be returned at any time, either to the library or directly to the school. There are three spots in Hoboken where books can be returned:
- Main Branch (500 Park Ave)
- Grand St. Branch (124 Grand St.)
- Uptown Book Lockers (1301 Hudson St, in front of the Historical Museum)
Have additional library books at home? Those can also be returned during the Pop-Up Library!
Why It Matters
Access to books plays a big role in building strong readers. The Pop-Up Library helps spark curiosity, encourages independent reading, and makes books feel approachable and exciting.
More Ways to Encourage Reading at Home
Our seasonal reading challenges are a great way to incentivize your kids and teens to track their reading and participate in enriching programs at HPL such as community-led clubs, quiet study hours, scavenger hunts, and more! Learn more here.
