Hoboken Public Library is here to help you register to vote.

National Voter Registration Day is Tuesday, September 20, 2022!

On this day, you will be able to visit any library branch—and even some parks!—and register to vote. We will have voter registration forms available in English and Spanish, Mail-in Ballot applications, and staff ready to assist with online or paper voter registration.

Voter FAQs

Am I eligible to register?
You must be:
– a U.S. Citizen
– 18 or older on Election Day
– a resident of your county for over 30 days by Election Day

What if I have been impacted by the justice system?
You can vote as long as you are not currently in prison, on probation, or on parole for a felony conviction.

What if I am currently experiencing homelessness?
You can list your shelter address, a street corner, or park as your residence on your voter registration form.

Do I need to show ID to vote?
Only if you are a first time voter and did not provide adequate identification on your registration form. For example, if you did not list a state-issued ID number or Social Security number, or if you listed your ID number incorrectly.

If I need to show ID, what kind of ID is acceptable?
State-issued ID, Passport, Student, Military, or Employee ID, a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows your name and address. You may wish to bring one of these forms of ID with you on Election Day, if you are a first-time voter in your county, just in case.

What do I need to register?
Your birthdate, and a current and valid state-issued ID number or a Social Security Number.
