Wait...Libraries have more than just books??

Yes! Welcome to our brand new Library of Things!

We’re offering a variety of items that you can pick up at Hoboken Public Library, check out, and take home with you.

We hope to provide you, our community, with Things such as home improvement tools, musical entertainment, and video game consoles.

Check out all the new Things through our technology lending page.

From there, you can view what is currently available to be borrowed.

While advanced reservation is not currently available for these items, they are available to be reserved and picked up the same day. Please note that reservations expire at the end of each day.

What kinds of Things does Hoboken Library have?

How does the Library of Things work?

Our Information and Digital Services team will guide you through checking out items from our Library of Things. If you’re a Hoboken Library card holder, come visit us on the 2nd floor at the IDS desk. If it’s your first time checking out an item from the Library of Things, you will need to sign a waiver to check out the item. This waiver only needs to be signed the first time you borrow an item, and will be kept on file.

If you’d like to view or print the waiver in advance, it can be accessed here. Otherwise, our staff will have hard copies for you to sign when you come to pick up your item.

After presenting your Library card, our staff will check the item out to your account.

The item is now in your hands for up to 14 days! These items have no renewals, so once those 14 days are up, please return it to the 2nd floor staff. We ask that you wait 24 hours before attempting to check the same item out again to be courteous to other patrons.

Please keep in mind, each patron can only have one item from our Library of Things checked out at once. Once you return that item, you’ll be free to check something else out.
