Notary services are available to Hoboken residents by appointment, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Notary services are provided at the Main Branch, 500 Park Avenue.  To make an appointment, select from available timeslots on our appointment calendar hereOnce booked, you will receive an email from our Notary Public confirming your appointment.

To optimize your experience, please follow these guidelines:

  1. Bring a valid photo identification, proof of Hoboken residency showing your current address, or your Hoboken Library Card.
  2. If your documents require a witness, it is advised that you provide your own witness. The witness must personally know you and bring a valid photo identification. If you are unable to provide a witness, please let us know as soon as possible to make other arrangements.
  3. Only documents in English can be notarized here, and you may not use a translator to communicate with the library notary.
  4. Notary service is not available for deeds, wills, living wills, living trusts, codicils, depositions, and certain public documents, including birth certificates, death certificates, and marriage certificates, with the exception of travel.

New Jersey law allows the library notary to decline notary service at his/her sole discretion, if the customer, document, or circumstances of the request raise issues of authenticity, ambiguity, doubt, or uncertainty.

Notary services at the Library are free.
