The Teen Advisory Board helps ambitious teens create and run programs for the Hoboken community through the library. It’s a place for teens to collaborate and brainstorm ideas, with library support, to bring their visions to life.
We meet monthly and, of course, provide snacks and fun. Plus, it builds leadership skills, looks great on resumes and college transcripts!

FAQ:

Is there an age requirement for joining TAB?

Yes! TAB members must be at least 13 years old.

Do you have to live or attend school in Hoboken to be a part of TAB?

No! TAB is open to all teens who want to be a part of the Library no matter where they live or go to school.

What is the time commitment (or requirement?) of being an active TAB Member?

Being a part of TAB includes 2 monthly meetings that can be attended in person or on Zoom! Attending these meetings is important if you are interested in being TAB.

What is the difference between being a Teen Volunteer and being an active TAB Member?

As a Teen Volunteer you are assisting the Librarians on staff with their programs and tasks such as shelving, story time, and other programs. TAB Members are invited to take a more active role in the library by designing and leading their own programs and community initiatives. Both our Teen Volunteers and TAB Members provide crucial assistance to the Youth Services Department!

What do I get out of volunteering or joining TAB?

On top of fulfilling their volunteer hour requirements for school, participants gain work experience and can request letters of recommendation.  Put HPL on your resumes and school applications!
