The next General Election Day is Tuesday, November 5th.

The deadline to register to vote in the General Election is Tuesday, October 15th.

During our Voter Registration Week (September 15-21) you can visit the Hoboken Public Library to register to vote and learn more about the General Election in New Jersey. We can register you online or via paper form. Find out where, when, and how to vote!

Voter FAQs

Am I eligible to register?
You must be:
– a U.S. Citizen
– 18 or older on Election Day
– a resident of your county for over 30 days by Election Day

What if I have been impacted by the justice system?
You can vote as long as you are not currently in prison, on probation, or on parole for a felony conviction.

What if I am currently experiencing homelessness?
You can list your shelter address, a street corner, or park as your residence on your voter registration form.

Do I need to show ID to vote?
Only if you are a first time voter and did not provide adequate identification on your registration form. For example, if you did not list a state-issued ID number or Social Security number, or if you listed your ID number incorrectly.

If I need to show ID, what kind of ID is acceptable?
State-issued ID, Passport, Student, Military, or Employee ID, a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows your name and address. You may wish to bring one of these forms of ID with you on Election Day, if you are a first-time voter in your county, just in case.

What do I need to register?
Your birthdate, and a current and valid state-issued ID number or a Social Security Number.
